Community Description:

A magnificently beautiful beach town, Mission Beach is located at the center of ‘The Strand’, a long peninsula beach area stretching from the south of Crystal Pier to the entrance of the Mission Bay Channel. At the north part of The Strand is the Pacific Beach area, and further down, extending over two miles is the Mission Beach area. To the south of the beach is a jetty with grass, parking and a walk, extends into the Pacific Ocean. The main artery through Mission Beach is Mission Boulevard, which is divided into South Mission, a peninsula, and North Mission.
Mission Beach spans nearly two miles of ocean, with a boardwalk on both the ocean and bay side, between Mission Bay to the east and Pacific Beach to the north. The boardwalk has been expanded and separated by a yellow line for foot traffic on one side and wheels (roller blades, bicycles and skateboards) on the other. The ocean side and bay sides of Mission Beach offer a wide range of recreational beach activities such as sunbathing, swimming, surfing, jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing.
Mission Beach is adjacent to Mission Bay Park, which is one of the most popular parks in San Diego. The park, covering an immense 4,235 acres, lies to the east of Mission Beach and is the largest man-made aquatic park in America. What was once marshy land was dredged in 1944 to create inlets, grass mounds and the beautiful beaches that today form Mission Bay Park. Mission Bay Park’s 27 miles of lovely beaches, the long boardwalk and grassland offer a variety of recreational activities including boating, picnicking, kite flying, fishing, sailing, water skiing and swimming. The park is also an ideal place for softball, volleyball and other games and sports. More than 15 million visitors visit the park annually.

Other attractions located close to Mission Beach include Sea World, San Diego’s famous water adventure park, and the Belmont Amusement Park, which is known for its Giant Dipper Roller Coaster.
Mission Beach properties are some of the most sought after among San Diego beach communities. There are a variety of homes in Mission Beach including million dollar beachfront properties, smaller cottages, condos, townhomes and apartments. Nearby communities such as Crown Point and Pacific Beach also have spectacular homes for sale.
Mission Beach’s beachfront dwellings come with gorgeous ocean views. Beach or bay front homes with direct access to the water are the most valuable part of Mission Beach real estate. They make great investment properties for vacation rentals, too.
