La Jolla, which literally translates to "The Jewel" in Spanish, is arguably the most desirable and prestigious neighborhood in San Diego County – famed throughout the world for its beautiful bluffside views and thriving intellectual and artistic culture!La Jolla caves are a great place to explore, especially by kayak!

Grand, luxurious, diverse La Jolla homes scatter the landscape into the hills with verandas and decks facing the ever-present sunset views. Mount Soledad dominates this town (rising 822 feet above sea level) and road planning throughout allowed for optimum lots with stunning views. Small La Jolla beach homes and many apartments make living a little more affordable to those who cannot afford La Jolla real estate ranging well into the $10 millions. La Jolla’s ocean view bluffs, sloping canyons and smooth sandy beaches make this seaside town unlike any other.

An educational and scientific center of San Diego, La Jolla is home to the University of California, San Diego, the Salk Institute, and Scripps institute of Oceanography. Other medical research and bioengineering facilities are strategically placed near the University, allowing many residents a short commute to work. This community has probably the second largest concentration of Biotechnology in the country, behind Boston.

Seals gather in La Jolla every year and provide some great entertainment! As a part of the City of San Diego, La Jolla is not its own city but certainly has the reputation of one, playing host to a large art community and many retired Hollywood stars & Nobel winners. One of La Jolla’s best attractions is the village guided by Prospect Street and Girard, which hosts many shops, boutiques, galleries, and a multitude of four-star restaurants, many overlooking the Pacific. The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is known the world over, it's unusual in that it owns the beach up the the high tide mark. Just east of Interstate 5 is La Jolla’s business center with high rise offices, hotels, apartment complexes, and a large Westfield shopping center. UCSD The University of California, San Diego

La Jolla Shores Pier, La Jolla, CAAn abundance of private education is available as well as many public schools with extraordinarily high national and state test scores and rankings. Because of the university’s facilities and the many educated residents who are privy to world  affairs and intellectualism, the arts community thrives and clubs meet regularly. Facilities and events include a sports complex / concert hall at UCSD, Concerts in the park, the La Jolla Festival of Arts, two golf courses, about 10 parks, a library, one of the countries only computer labs, and the La Jolla Playhouse, founded with the help of the late Gregory Peck. This town boasts a sense of society, with class and money to boot.
